Dr. Maria T. Silva, PsyD
Dr. Maria Silva graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a master’s degree and doctorate degree in clinical psychology. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology in 2019 at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Silva practices clinical and forensic psychology in private practice. She is a member of the Georgia Psychological Association, where she serves as Diversity Directorate Chair, and Emory School of Medicine’s Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee. She is a member of the Atlanta Behavioral Health Advocates, National Latinx Psychological Association, and International OCD Foundation. She serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor for Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Silva has forensic experience in corrections through the Fulton County Jail Competency Restoration Program, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Loyola Department of Public Safety and Baltimore Police Department. She has worked in forensic inpatient settings at Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, Wisconsin, and Georgia Regional Hospital-Atlanta. Along with utilizing the WAVR-21 to assess violence risk, Dr. Silva often integrates into her assessment the use of several other instruments (e.g. Psychopathy Checklist- Revised [PCL-R]; Historical and Clinical Risk Management-20 [HRC-20]; and Violence Risk appraisal Guide [VRAG]). She collaborates with corporate human resources, security, legal and employee assistance programs to assess for potential violence and assist in employee threat management plans.
