Explosive Children
Some children have a higher intensity of emotions, which leads to emotion dysregulation in the form of explosive behaviors. These children are sometimes referred to as “supersensors.” Sometimes, these children are mislabeled as “willful” or “bipolar,” while their symptoms are likely more closely linked to anxiety and obsessiveness.
Explosive children and adolescents are best described as dealing with high emotional sensitivity and impulsive emotional behavior. They experience emotions on a different level and much stronger than their peers. They are easily irritated, and emotions may be so overwhelming verbal or physical aggression occurs.
ASSOCIATED CONCERNS
